My eligibility for the DGPP
All regular Desjardins Group employees age 25 or over must participate in the Desjardins Group Pension Plan, or DGPP. Participation is optional for employees under age 25.
However, in addition to the age criterion, the following conditions must be met, based on employment status:
- For a regular full-time employee or a regular part-time employee working 14 hours or more, participation is immediate.
- For a regular part-time employee working fewer than 14 hours or for any other employment status, if, during a calendar year, an employee has worked 700 or more hours at a Desjardins Group employer or has received total compensation equal to or higher than 35% of the maximum pensionable earnings, his or her participation will begin on January 1 of the next year.
When I begin participating in the DGPP, my participation can not be interrupted, even if I no longer satisfy the eligibility criteria, and even if I change employers.
