In the event of past service buy-back
Past service buy-back is used to convert unrecognized years of service into the DGPP into credited years, that is, into years eligible for the calculation of my pension. I can buy back past service for very specific situations, such as maternity or parental leave and leave without pay during which I did not contribute to the DGPP.
Other situations can also allow me to buy back past service. I am going to consult the group plans website under the "Life Events/Buyback of Past Service" tab. The actuary for the DGPP periodically sets the factors for buy-back, based on all variables considered.
