Congratulations!
This event has no impact on the Desjardins Group Pension Plan (DGPP), unless you wish to designate this child as a beneficiary.
Please note however that, according to Québec’s Supplemental Pension Plans Act, the member’s spouse has priority over any other beneficiary, unless the spouse has waived that right.
Furthermore, if you have been living in a marital relationship with a common-law spouse for at least one year but less than three years, the fact that a child has been born of the union automatically makes your common-law spouse recognized as your spouse under the DGPP.
For a reminder on the terms and conditions for maternity leave or parental leave.
